ORT 2

Immersing users in a rhythmic feast of textures and materials is what we aim for, a goal that we more than delivered for this three-bedroom unit. The middle-aged couple who entrusted us with this project loves to entertain friends and family, so our concept revolved around designing a dwelling conducive for creating memories. Adopting the concept of “tactile modern,” we harmonized complex textures and materials to create spaces that impress their materiality through mere sight, and we curated midcentury modern furniture and artwork of Philippine masters to complete the feast for the senses.

The lines are inspired by the Art Deco style, giving the spaces a timeless feel. Despite the achromatic palette of blacks, whites, and greys, the unit feels alive because of the colorful tones of the curated artworks, such as the gallery of Arturo Luz paintings in the living area and the Romulo Olazo in the piano area. Because of the cohesion and tastefulness of its design, the project was recognized at the 2017 International Property Awards with the Best Interior Design award.
